I myself like both the overdrive sound of the Eminence and the resistance to break-up that the Jensen offers. The Eminence overdrives smoothly and tightly like a more modern speaker. It lacks in bass, and (this was not evident from the clips) it resists overdrive as a typical vintage Jensen does. The Jensen has more sparkle and presence-more "air" in the sound. It has more bass and mids than its vintage counterpart. The Eminence is wonderfully smooth without losing the top-end chime. Lots of people like the sound of the Eminence GA-SC64 in this one clip! I think that speaks well of Eminence's work on this speaker. Of course the Deluxe Reverb did not original come with a C12N (or at least I think it didn't), but it's the speaker lots of people think it should have come with. So here we are comparing the "real deal" with its modern reinterpretation. I also find this an interesting comparison in that the GA-SC64 is kind of a modern take on a 1964 C12N. That dimensionality and presence are really hard to capture (for me, at least) in the recordings. I wanted less bass than it had with the Eminence, and I like the extra sparkle and presence it has. The Jensen can be made to sound a bit smoother, too, simply by rolling off the treble. But for those who thought the Jensen might be too bright in the top end where the Eminence sounded better, bear in mind this was with the bridge pickup of a Telecaster, with the treble set on the amp where it sounded good with the Eminence. The top end on the Eminence is really, really nice. Then I pulled out the Eminence and replaced it with the Jensen, changing not one tiny setting on anything. I set the microphone as hot as I could for the Eminence, thinking it would undoubtedly be quieter with the 52-year-old Jensen.

That is one of the reasons for the "tasty digital distortion" on the second clip that mentioned. Surprisingly, the Jensen-original cone and all-is as loud or louder than the Eminence, which rates at 100.5dB. The Jensen is leaner in the bass, lacking in mids almost completely, and brighter in the top end. SPEAKER 2: 1966 Jensen C12NA with original cone Just a teaser clip to point out some similarities and differences between the two speakers in a 1976 Deluxe Reverb. But this was not meant to be a full-on speaker review.

Surely more data would have helped inform the voting. I get it that this is just one tiny clip played in one certain way.
